It's a great initiative to have a national ID card with electronic
payment features electronic signatures, and can be used for depositing
money, withdrawing and making payments. Using the card as a payment
tool, Nigerians can deposit funds, receive social benefits, save or
engage in many other financial transactions that are facilitated by
electronic payments with the extra security assurance that biometric
verification provides.
The project will be issued to 13million Nigerians, while the next
target while be 100million Nigerians and in conjunction with Master
Card, Nigerian National Identity Management Commission and Access bank
join in subsequent phases include
Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa, Unity Bank as well as Skye Bank,
Unity Bank and First Bank.
The eID card is working with several government agencies to integrate
and harmonize all identity databases including the Driver's License,
Voter Registration, Health Insurance, Tax, SIM and the National
Pension Commission (PENCOM) into a single, shared services platform.
The National eID program help to create an optimized common platform,
for Nigerians citizens to easily interact with the various government
agencies and to transacts electronically.
The ELECTRONIC NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD we are talking about here, which
will contain the information of owners: financial, health, home and
office address, all contacts and driving licenses and any such of
documents procured, why in the world would a right thinking government
outsource such a program and we be issued from 16 aged and above.
Having both an identity card with Master Card's prepaid payment
capability creates a game changer as it breaks down one of the most
significant barriers to financial inclusion, proof of identity while
simultaneously enabling Nigerians to access the global economy and a
banking service for dose who don't have the experience before.
